Description

SUMMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Process Engineer

Analyse customer process, user requirements specification for engineered process

equipment (including different technologies such as direct flow filtration, tangential

flow filtration, chromatography etc.) used in the downstream process and Single

Use Technology System. Ensure that the requirements are clearly defined in the

LQP and explanation given to the engineering team for preparation of quotations /

costing.

Take ownership and take the technical lead and responsibility from the initial

enquiry phase until final sign-off of the project for small to large size projects.

As technical lead discuss, propose and define final engineered system solution with

the customer. After Order placement work closely with the designated project

manager and process engineer at the designated plant to ensure accurate

execution of the proposed engineered system solution based on agreed and

defined contractual specification. Ensure proper interface of the plant with the

customer to make sure the project is delivered in accordance to specification, on

time and within budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

(a) Line Management Responsibility:

• Responsible for the detailed technical process clarification (technology

selection, sizing, design testing etc.) together with the customer on

requested equipment.

• Responsible for the technical elaboration of the engineered equipment

solution. Writing technical proposal and costing for the proposed solution.

• Discussion with the customer on technical elaboration of detail design

(including functional specification as a base for the process coding,

component list, valves and fitting lists etc.).

• Understand current pharmaceutical standards applicable such as ASME

BPE, GAMP, cGMP, ISPE guidelines and ensure that customer’s specific

requirements are communicated well with the PE/PM.

• Ensure that technical documentation in accordance to the specification for

the project.

• Execute and coordinate all qualification activities included in the project

(SAT)

• Assist customers in their qualification and validation activities if requested.

• Responsible for complete project sign off.

Qualifications

POSITION COMPETENCIES:

(a) Knowledge & Key Skills:

• Ability to review and comment customer URS for downstream equipment,

and evaluate possible technologies or designs to meet customer

requirements.

• Detailed understanding of filtration separation and purification technologies

used in the downstream processing (Direct flow filtration, tangential flow

filtration, chromatography)

• Knowledge and understanding of the current industry guidelines for

designing, manufacturing, testing and documenting biopharmaceutical

process equipment. (ASME BPE, GAMP, cGMP, ISPE, etc.)

• Project management experience for the execution of system projects in

accordance to the defined specifications, time schedule and cost.

• Ability and willingness to work in a multinational and interdisciplinary team

with a high degree on travelling.

• Ability to communicate effectively on complex technical / engineering issues

at the highest level. Pall internal as well as with the customer.

• Language skills: verbal and written communication proficiency in Korean

and English.

(b) Qualifications/Education:

• BSc/MSc or equivalent in Biochemical engineering, Process engineering,

chemical engineering or equivalent. A higher degree or secondary degree in

a related subject would be an advantage.

(c) Previous Experience:

• Experience of process engineering / project management of downstream

equipment used in Biopharmaceutical manufacturing including large

projects involving the integration of multiple systems.

• Experience in the design and engineering of process equipment for

filtration, separation and purification equipment (direct or tangential flow,

filtration, chromatography systems and columns etc.) used in a down

stream process.

• Experience of working on projects in various cultures.

• Experience of working with outside subcontractors including mechanical

fabricators, electronic fabricators, Software designers and automation

experts.

• Experience in qualification activities (FAT/SAT) for process equipment in the

biopharmaceutical industry.

• Direct experience of working in the Biotech industry would be an advantage

(d) Miscellaneous: (e.g. must be prepared to work unsociable hours, do shift work,

hold a current driving licence, have a passport, be prepared to travel abroad,

etc)
