Job Title: Medical Sales Specialist (MSS)
Position in organization: Sales

I.        General Summary & Overall Challenges.

To meet or exceed the assigned KPI’s (Sales targets) by maximising customer revenue and driving the extension of business by winning competitive accounts, retaining and developing the customer base for the assigned territory.  To act as the customer facing representative (customer ownership) for all Radiometer Limited’s business in all accounts (Blood Gas, HemoCue, AQT, AQURE and Samplers) within the hospital environment.  Responsible for meeting assigned KPI’s through meeting or exceeding hospital revenue derived from Blood Gas, HemoCue, AQT, AQURE and Samplers, re-agent and consumable orders and service revenue from the secondary care sector.  Furthermore, to support the implementation and application training of the product portfolio within the hospital environment.

II.        Key Responsibilities

Measure of performance
  • Sales Process: To meet or exceed assigned KPI’s.  Promote RLTD solutions to existing and potential customers. Pro-actively maintain existing business whilst driving through issue resolution. Manage complex sales situations and proposal preparation through to contract negotiation with RSM and team members.
Through 100% identification of leads and decision makers and their requirements in existing and new accounts. Demonstrate effective management of the sales and tender cycle and ad hoc sales opps. Effective account management & internal communication.
  • Project Management: Manage the sales process, leading project teams.
Develop sales plans with timelines & milestones in conjunction with other RLTD colleagues.
  • Customer interaction and selling: Own, build and manage relationships and communication with all customer stakeholders and decision makers.
Effective use of sales tools such as ‘AS’ dashboards and formulation of tactical sales workplans to win the business.
  • Reporting: Monitor and report on competitor & marketplace trends with rapid reaction to ensure our win rate is maintained.
Accountable for visibility of upcoming tenders.
  • Call planning: Plan and organize cost effective call programs to reach all key customers on territory and coordinate with other sales project colleagues according to customer needs.
Documentation of all customer contact in the company CRM system (Wizard).
  • Processes: Ownership and responsibility of work schedule.  The MSS is the primary point of contact for existing and potential customers in their own territory and periodically in support of other MSS colleagues particularly training.
Producing monthly reports, CRM updates and funnel reviews.

Job Requirements


I.        Requirements for this position (“What” the candidate can do)

a)  Formal Education
    • Degree preferably BSc
      b)  “Must Have” Competencies / Skills / Experience
    • Knowledge of POC and/or laboratory diagnostic equipment.
    • Knowledge of laboratory medicine, specifically POC, as practiced in NHS laboratories.
    • Professional selling skills.
    • Understanding of purchasing methods employed by public organisations.
    • Formal sales training, track record of sales excellence and attainment
      c)  Language
    • English speaking
      d)  IT
    • High level of IT literacy, with an ability to learn new skills and train customers
      e) Travel (required estimated % of time)
    • 80% within territory

    • Compliance with established reporting and record keeping procedures against set deadlines and standards
