Description

PURPOSE: 
Responsible for the safety, quality, and delivery for a defined production area. Creating a winning team which will continuously strive for improvements driving customer satisfaction and improving costs.   
ACCOUNTABILITIES: 
  • Accountable for quality, safety, delivery, inventory and productivity of their team over 24-hour period, and for leading daily management to assure KPIs are met and countermeasures are taken.
  • Create a high performing team by:
  • Hiring talented individuals
  • Using the strengths of each individual,
  • Developing the skill level of associates on the team through continuous performance feedback.
  • Developing growth and training plans for each team member that benefit the individual and the business.
  • Share resources with other Teams for the benefit of the plant.  Support rotation of associates to/from other Teams.  Make decisions consistent with the objectives of the plant.
  • Have a clear understanding of targets, actual performance, and the gap between them.  Establish countermeasures that will close the gaps.
  • Quickly address associate safety concerns, product quality issues (including customer complaint investigations), and regulatory compliance concerns (using the CAPA system).
  • Coordinate work with cross functional resources; specifically, Quality, Maintenance, Process Engineering to achieve agreed results.
  • Communicate with Production Planning to assure production priorities are clearly understood and accomplished.   
  • Create, sustain and optimize Standard Work.  Record Standard Work in SOPs as needed. 
  • Use DBS tools, including PSP, Daily Management, Standard Work, and Transactional Process Improvements.  Participate in, or lead kaizen events to initiate improvements in the work team.

Qualifications

Critical Knowledge and Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree required; engineering, supply chain, or related field is preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience working in a team environment in a manufacturing facility required.
  • 2+ years’ experience leading people and/or projects in a manufacturing environment required; regulated industry experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of lean manufacturing principles required.

Qualified Candidates will possess: 
  • Proven history of working with operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate people to attain excellent results.
  • Knowledge of a regulated manufacturing environment ("Good Manufacturing Practices").
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data from Key Performance Indicators and formulate action plans to effectively close performance gaps.
