Description

JOB SUMMARY: The EHS/Facilities Manager ensures that all environmental, health & safety programs, procedures, training, work practices and controls are effectively implemented and enforced, and that facilities are adequately maintained through regularly scheduled cleaning and maintenance. Key responsibilities include safety and environmental administration, injury case management, technical safety advice and site-wide safety training for Implant Direct Facilities in the United States. In addition, manages Facilities Technicians and vendor relationships, scheduling facility repairs, overseeing the HVAC system, non-critical production machine maintenance, renovation projects, facility site plans /change controls. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Manages and develops a team of Facilities Technicians; creates development plans, holds accountable through SMART objectives, coaching and mentoring. 
  • Acts as the EHS/Facility representative for the Business Continuity Plan/Disaster Recovery 
  • Participates in EHS/Facility budget preparation and tracking; establishing and monitoring progress toward company goals. 
  • Facilitates EHS/Facility program objectives completion in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and environmental rules and regulations such as Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substances Control Agency (TSCA), and the Clean Water Act (CWA).  
  • Monitors developing environmental federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and risk initiatives and analyzes potential impacts on system operations.
  • Ensures timely environmental, health and safety support in the areas of regulatory compliance, compliance reporting (i.e. OSHA 300 log), industrial hygiene testing, EHS data management, enforcement action response, and regulatory agency mediation; maintains EHS files and records. 
  • Supports the Corporate and Platform EHS program and direction; maintains and submits reports as required. 
  • Coordinates and engages platform and corporate subject matter experts and/or external consultants in the identification, development and implementation of EHS or Facility Maintenance goals which will positively impact and add value to the organization; manages 3rd party consultant scope of work/contracts as required. 
  • Represents the organization at various industry associations, platform or corporate meetings through participation in meetings, on committees or task teams.
  • Plans, implements and trains site personnel on various EHS/Regulatory policies and programs, including, but not limited to safety practices, fire prevention, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, regulations and standards, and incident investigation.
  • Identifies and suggests corrective measures to improve each site’s accident rate and to suggest/implement means to achieve site EHS goals.
  • Conducts a facilities inspection to detect existing or potential accident, environmental and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative EHS/Facilities measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Leads the investigation of incidents and injuries; cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Observes Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and established safety policies. 
  • Oversees the administration of workers' compensation program for the organization. 
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting, perform other EHS duties as assigned.
  • Provides Leadership in the 5S/4E DBS Tools. Supports all Kaizen’s as it relates to these tools.   
  • Travel as needed between Thousand Oaks and Valencia, CA locations.  May occasionally travel domestically and/or globally.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Environmental, Health & Safety or related field (science, engineering) plus a minimum of 3 years EHS experience and 1 year facilities management experience, or Associates Degree plus a minimum of 7 years’ EHS experience and 5 years’ experience in facilities management; a combination of education and 8 years of EHS & facilities management experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) and/or Certified Workers Compensation Professional (CWCP).
  • Knowledge of general facilities management practices.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, motivate and direct the work of subordinate staff.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills and exhibited ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Minimum three years working with Microsoft Office Suite.

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Strong change and project management skills; demonstrated success managing projects that drive behavioral changes.
