Diagnoses, isolates and corrects electrical troubles to repair and replacement of controls, motors, switches, devices and gear, rerouting of circuits and distribution centers to balance loads.

Uses appropriate test instruments, gear and equipment to test and insure compatibility and safety of all circuits, in-line components, switches, controls, etc., to assure performance quality and operation.

Lays out installations; prepares bill of materials and requisitions same form engineering specifications and drawings for major projects, or works form verbal or written instructions on installations, system layout and changeovers.

Applies knowledge of building and electrical codes as well as state and national safety standards.

Maintains records and documentation of all work.

Recommends electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic controllers and circuitry.

Advises supervisor regarding facilities, current equipment and/or proposed equipment on technological improvements which could optimize operational efficiencies.

Applies knowledge of PLC programming and ladder/logic troubleshooting.

Assists calibration engineer in performing routine calibration of test equipment

Job Requirements



High School graduate or GED equivalent preferred.

Must be a UAW Journeyman, or have eight (8) years of documented, verifiable experience, or successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship program plus electrical license, preferred.

Working experience to a total of eight (8) years experience within one or more of the following skilled trades: Electrician, Pipefitter, Welding and Fabricator, Machine Repair Person or HVAC Repair Person.

Formal education or minimum eight (8) years qualified experience in advanced machine logic and controls including, advanced technical electronic knowledge to solve unusually complex problems and/or assist in the development of such circuitry.

Must have a detailed understanding of the inter-relationship of circuits and ability to exercise independent judgement in performing job assignments on such.

Fluent understanding of AB PLC programming languages.

Must be properly fitted and able to wear a respirator.

Uses and/or applies all safety directives, regulations and equipment provided for operations, equipment, machinery and work areas.

Must be knowledgeable in the proper handling of chemicals and waste, both hazardous and nonhazardous, as defined by FDA, OSHA, EPA and DOT.
