The Director Global Procurement will provide overall leadership and management for the Life Science Procurement organization.  This is a nearly $1 billion dollar business with responsibility for overall leadership in Strategic Procurement, Value Engineering, and Component Engineering in Indianapolis; South Florida; Suzhou, China; Marseille, France; and, other global sites.

Responsibilities for this will include cost improvements including PPV/MUV saving, strategic sourcing, and supplier quality initiatives, support new product development by prioritizing and allocating resources; oversee process improvement and breakthroughs within procurement in accordance with company strategies, develop and maintain strong collaborative partnerships with leading experts, other companies, joint ventures, and OEMs; and ensures all FDA, ISO, and related regulatory requirements are consistently met.


  • Establishes and approves organizational objectives and assignments, delegating assignments to staff
  • Forecasts staffing requirements across multiple departments
  • Develops resource strategies, allocates budgets, staff, tools, and specialized support necessary for cost-effective business solutions
  • Reviews and monitors operating budgets
  • Leads the group’s involvement in the planning processes; participates in division, corporate strategic and tactical planning processes
  • Communicates project status to executive management, users and staff that can have company-wide impact
  • Champion for the Danaher Business System (DBS)

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree with 20+ years of experience or Master’s/Doctoral degree with 18+ years’ experience and at least 6+ years managing people
  • Leadership and management experience in developing & mentoring high performance teams across multi-departmental organizations
  • Demonstrated results in leading MUV/PPV cost reductions, supplier risk analyses and management, commodity strategy development, and inventory and cash flow improvements across multiple sites
  • Substantial experience working cross-functionally with R&D, product marketing, finance and other functional teams in product development / New Product Introduction
  • Financial/cost accounting experience managing multiple cost centers and budgets.
  • Team player with strong customer orientation and ability to work in multinational and multicultural environment.
  • Proven leadership, negotiation, and public presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates Drive for Results in personal, team and organizational performance
  • Models humility, transparency and integrity in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Operations experience a plus
