Field Support Scientist Portugal and Galicia (based in Lisbon, Oporto, North of Portugal)


Summary of position


This position within the Leica organization is to deliver first-class technical support, training, installations and demonstrations of Advanced Staining and Histology Instruments with promotion and sales of Leica Biosystems portfolio of reagents and consumables.  The ultimate objective is to achieve customer satisfaction with Leica Biosystems products in conjunction with growing core reagent product sales by marketing and sales initiatives.

The FSS will provide installation, training and applications support to customers in their defined territory thus ensuring LBS products have maximum “uptime” and therefore retains customers to generate reagent order intake. 

The FSS will work in close conjunction with the Sales Account Manager, other FSSs and MDMs to provide support with demonstrations, grow sales and margin and to increase market share though effective promotion and selling efforts and by defending achieved market share against competition.

Key responsibilities


Reagents Sales:  Generate and develop sales and product awareness of LBS product portfolio directly through Customer visits & product information, samples and customer trials.

Follow-up new leads generated by marketing activities, product presentations & workshops. In conjunction with the Sales Account Managers, plan and implement sales initiatives in order to address specific tactical and/or strategic business needs. Record and actively manage activities in SFDC and account mapping tools.

Customer Acquisition and Business Development: Research and identify potential with customers in line with strategic directives in order to generate Sales. Key areas to target include current Leica and non-Leica instruments users, Clinical and Research customers. Identify and qualify opportunities to offer consumables reagents with instrumentation to further increase sales in new market segments. Record all activities in SFDC and account mapping tools.

Demo/Negotiations & Support: In collaboration with SAM colleagues, initiate and coordinate demos of IHC stainer, FISH, processors and stainers at customer’s sites. Lead customer visits for demonstration at the Newcastle/Nussloch demo suite. Participate in congresses and meetings as necessary in order to promote existing and new antibodies, probes and other products to customers in line with the existing promotional programs and strategies.

Market & Competitors Research: Supply information on Market share development, competitor’s activities, trends and market developments in geographic region of responsibility to Sales Management and Marketing. Record customer contacts in SFDC and account mapping tools to facilitate marketing requirements.

 

Training and Support: Performing customer training directly in the demonstration and/or installations of:

•          Instrument use

•          Theranostics products

•          Software functionality

•          Protocol development for the customer

Provide technical support to all customers as required including in-field troubleshooting of applications problems and diagnosing rudimentary hardware and software failures in-office application support


First six months expectations


Acquire and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the product lines and applications.

Develop and maintain relationships to his/her fellow Field Support Scientists, Sales Account Managers and MDMs.

Develop and maintain relationships with Iberia network (internal, Sales, Marketing, Technical Services, Shared Services and Business Unit) and direct key accounts.

Contribute willingly to the team’s incentive plan and individual personal targets.
