Job Description:

The Field Applications and Market Development Specialist is responsible for providing a broad range of pre- and post-sales support for a range of analytical products and equipment within a wide geography. Primary responsibilities include:
• working with Sales Representatives on sales calls and acting as a technical consultant/expert to provide prospective customers with technical information to assist with their purchasing decisions.
• working at customer sites to provide training and technical assistance to users of LCMS and other projects
• gather customer information about technical trends/needs to support market development for future products
• work with customers and SCIEX associates to resolve technical issues promptly
• build strong relationships with customers to foster success
• provide technical insight to the business and help develop strategies for complex sales
• use strong technical skills to provide first-class results to customers when asked to demonstrate equipment
 
Some key personal attributes that are essential for the role are:
• comfortable with rapid change in required work needs and priorities
• excellent organizational skills (managing multiple priorities, make appointments, plan schedules, coordinate projects with other SCIEX personnel)
• ability to travel at short notice (domestic and international)
• ability to establish rapport with people from diverse backgrounds
• work and engage with a remote team
 
Key Technical skills and knowledge would include:
• Strong technical and significant laboratory and/or scientific background
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• excellent computer skills - installation, troubleshooting and use of software
• excellent communication skills to clearly articulate technical information to both internal and external customers
• excellent presentation skills (of technical information in written and verbal form)
• knowledge in proteomics and small molecule analysis using LC-MS/MS
• Understanding of customer business, applications, and other needs
• Understanding of customer decision making process and key decision makers and influencers

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) or higher in a relevant science related fields is essential.
• Requires 3+ years of relevant industry experience which should include techniques that are required by the role
• previous operation of SCIEX MS systems or related instrumentation is desirable
• previous roles or experience in training, lecturing or tutoring is desirable
