The Global Service Support and Development team (GSSD) is the main liaison between Field Service and all internal functions, responsible for developing products and processes that support the Service business.  Additionally, the team use these relationships to support the Field in post launch technical escalations that exceed the capabilities of the field team to resolve in a timely manner.

The Analytical Instrumentation, Service Specialist is responsible for managing all service related design aspects of a Mass Spectrometer platform during the product development cycle. Deep knowledge and experience in Mass Spectrometry (or similar complex analytical technology) with a focus on Triple Quadrupole, Ion Trap, and Time Of Flight instruments is required for this position.

The Analytical Instrumentation, Service Specialist will have close collaborative interactions with internal groups (Research, Design Eng., Reliability, MFG, Quality) and with the global Field Service teams, to ensure new products are designed with optimum serviceability in mind.  Design aspects will include an overview of hardware, software, and electrical design, with a detailed view on diagnostic and remote monitoring capabilities as well as the delivery of the necessary service tools and technical documentation to make the product a commercial success.


  • Works directly with R&D and Service teams during development projects to determine and implement service requirements in new product designs.
  • Collects formal Voice of Service technical and commercial input to drive continuous improvement in serviceability and commercial profitability of new designs.
  • Reviews historic service data of current products to identify improvement opportunities
  • Selects and leads the project Service Core Team consisting of members from global Territory Specialists, Technical Training and Technical Assistance Center. Service Core Team is responsible for reviewing design features and Tech Transfer events to the greater     Service Organization.  Additionally, the Core Team is responsible for ensuring any Service related project deliverables are completed on schedule.
  • Develops the technical contents for service documentation (service manual, illustrated parts list, installation procedure etc.) in collaboration with the engineering team, system engineer, service core team and the technical writer.
  • Develops formal Service and Support Strategy and plan for new products encompassing spare parts release and stocking, training, commercial administrative process review, Service communication.
  • Works with internal experts to develop Diagnostic models prior to product launch, as well as ensuring that Remote Monitoring capabilities are exposed and available.
  • Prepares and presents regular project updates to the Service senior leadership team.

Job Requirements


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Requires Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Life Sciences, Engineering
  • 3+ years of Field Service or equivalent experience in complex high-tech systems
  • Demonstrated excellence with troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Practical knowledge of mechanical and electronic design and design practices
  • Hands on experience on complex analytical instrumentation.
