The Design Engineer FIT (DE FIT) takes responsibility for supporting Fast Impact initiatives and other Life Cycle Management activities on launched products according to the company’s Design Control process. Furthermore, he/ she is involved in maintaining the existing product portfolio includes activities such as cost reduction (e.g. triggered by supplier change), quality improvement (e.g. triggered by CAPAs), and general portfolio maintenance. The DE FIT further acts as a general point of knowledge for technical expertise in the company's products.

Morevover, he/she supports the Development Engineers with or drive independently the handling of the Engineering Change Orders and collaborates closely with manufacturing sites

Main Responsibilities:

  • Generate, change and review specifying documents (e.g. DRW, BOM, LFT, ECO etc.) as part of Technical File and life-cycle management activities.

  • Ensure that documents are uniform, accurate and comply with applicable engineering, medical device and Nobel Biocare standards.

  • Plan, perform and document product change activities (design, process).

  • Conduct and document technical analysis (e.g. prototypes, initial samples, complaints etc.), perform and evaluate production feasibility studies of technical solutions.

  • Identify potential improvements of products and support improvement requests for manufacturing processes.

  • Provide technical content to product related documentation such as IFUs and product catalogues.

  • Continuously report achievements and escalates challenges in a timely manner

Job Requirements


  • Technical background (Design Draftsman Apprenticeship or equivalent) in relevant field (mechanical engineering or equivalent), studies in mechanical engineering desired (e.g. Technician HF / TS).

  • Working experience in the design engineering or mechanical engineering field - preferably in the dental, medical device or pharmaceutical industry.

  • Good understanding of manufacturing methods and processes.

  •  Comprehensive knowledge in relevant tools (SAP, 3D-CAD NX & Teamcenter, MS Office), processes (DCP and ltM) and relevant SOPs.

  • Fluent in English,  German is an asset (spoken and written).

  • Good understanding of impact of product changes on documentation, design, process, quality.

  • Ability to analyze technical problems and systematically develop detailed solution.

  • Organizational and multitasking skills with ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Ability to work effectively with other groups and maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders/good communication skills.
