Description

Purpose of Position: 

Hach is seeking a Copy/Content Writer to manage written communication processes for our creative operations team. Hach solutions and product mix reach customers across multiple vertical markets. This position will work with cross functional teams to create copy for campaigns, launches, and other communications identified in the commercial planning process.
This role will report to the Manager of Creative Operations and is responsible for research, writing, and copy/content management in a collaborative effort to create master campaign scripts, providing copy for all customer facing campaign assets. Assets include but are not limited to, emails and subject lines, web copy, headlines, marketing copy, white papers, case studies, video scripts, social media copy, etc.  

The ideal candidate is a skilled writer and editor, with strong storytelling experience, exploring a subject from different angles to find the human interest. Hach is a scientific company, focused on ensuring water quality for people around the world, so this writer must be comfortable translating technical, scientific subjects into relatable copy and content for customer consumption.  
The ideal candidate demonstrates ownership of their role in creating compelling writing that engages our customers and is comfortable defending and negotiating writing decisions to internal stakeholders to meet stated goals. 

Essential Functions: 
  • Create high quality, English Master communication copy for foundational marketing campaigns/launches. Collaborate with Demand Generation and Digital marketing teams, to collect existing documentation, interview subject matter experts, and synthesize information from higher level sources into multiple channel and customer iterations. These iterations will inform and supply Content Design Managers (CDM) with appropriate copy for the creation of all assets in the campaign flow.   
  • Manage annotation changes from pre-determined internal and external stakeholders. Prior to the design phase, evaluate, prioritize, and implement changes gathered in all approval processes. Manage version control of master campaign script. 
  • Manage and own database of all campaign scripts and brand copy for customer facing assets. Apply taxonomy and other organizational processes to copy/text for easy query and retrieval. 
  • Responsible for ensuring all communications adhere to global standards, both in grammatical accuracy but also to ensure the Hach voice is carried through. Manage and defend copy style via Hach Brand Guide. 
  • Contributes to process improvements resulting in better quality and/or shorter lead time.  
  • Collaborates with CDM in preparation of documentation for final production - visually inspects final files before and after delivery to print vendor, data duplicator, e-commerce team, or prior to posting to document sharing sites.  
Duties may also include: 
  • Marketing Strategy - Collaborate and contribute to marketing communication strategy, offering multiple approaches for innovative copy styles and presentations. 
  • Copy Editing - Provide copy editing services to L2 and above leadership when prioritized and necessary. 
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (Standard Work) - Create standardized process for copy/content writing execution for company-wide dissemination. Create and maintain standardized writing style for Hach Brand Guide.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • BA/BS in English, Communication, Technical Communication, Marketing or related field
  • 5 years' experience copy writing in an agency or internal B2B marketing unit
  • Water industry, or other scientific or technical writing experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office  
  • Experience using digital asset management tools is a plus 
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
