Description

The Controller is responsible for managing people and activities in General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll areas.  Report accurate, timely and GAAP compliant company financial data. 


Essential Functions:


  • Mentor and manage personnel including performance evaluations, pay increases, disciplinary actions, consultations on career opportunities, hiring and terminations.

  • Coordinate, review and monitor work in all supervised areas to ensure adherence to key internal controls and other established procedures, deadlines and regulatory requirements.

  • Supports company objectives by managing costs and working capital performance.

  • Act as a resource for people inside and outside the department for financial information.

  • Coordinate with internal / external auditors to promote efficient and productive financial records audit.

  • Manage the consolidation of all financial data for accurate reporting.

  • Assist management team in analyzing business opportunities to maximize returns.

  • Act as Sarbanes Oxley Champion and/or delegate to a direct report.

  • Coordinate weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting to provide useful and timely information to CFO and executive management.

  • Participate/Coordinate annual budgeting process to produce comprehensive plan.

  • Promote and support continuous improvement by utilizing DBS tools and practices.

  • Analyze proposed capital expenditures to ensure they are financially justified.

  • Ensure accuracy of all income tax returns and all government reporting.

  • Manage the integration of financial functions of acquired businesses (as assigned).

  • Analyze and communicate variances from plan and forecast.

  • Assist in hiring activities to ensure a strong funnel of Finance Department talent.

Job Requirements



Qualifications

Education, Background and Skill Requirements:



  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting required.


  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.


  • Strong knowledge of GAAP required


  • Strong knowledge of Oracle ERP preferred.


  • Strong knowledge of internal controls and their effective application.


  • Strong prior experience in financial statement preparation.


  • Strong prior experience with reporting for multiple locations (including international) and analyzing currency exchange impact on financial results.


  • Previous supervisory experience required. 


  • Previous experience in manufacturing environment required. 


  • Strong experience with Excel spreadsheet software.


  • Skilled with word processing software.


  • Skilled at analysis of financial information and interpretation of such into useful information communicated to non-financial personnel.


  • Skilled at writing and presenting business communications in a clear and concise manner.


  • Ability to treat confidential information with discretion.


  • Ability to make clear, concise and understandable presentations to large groups.


  • Ability to pay close attention to details ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.


  • Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.


  • Ability to recognize opportunities for improvement and implement solutions quickly. 


  • Ability to develop creative solutions to problems and work towards continuous improvement.
