This position is part of the CTO – Chief Technology Office, as part of the Sustaining Engineering team and entails oversight and execution of the design change process at Sciex.  This includes leading the CCB (Change Control Board and supporting our ECR (Engineering Change Request) process to support changes to our world-class, state-of-the-art analytical instruments.   In this capacity, the candidate will work with high-performance, multi-disciplinary teams participating in the review of changes being requested by various business functions.  The individual will also help to optimize and streamline the process through collaboration and data analysis, while following established guidelines, procedures and design practices.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversight of the Design Change Process for all platforms across Sciex
  • Responsible for continuous improvement of the change control process
  • Facilitate and chair Change Control Board meetings
  • Evaluation of reasons for change to ensure justification and timeliness of changes align with business goals 
  • Create awareness of on-going HW and SW changes to ensure synchronization of activities in new product development and sustainment of existing products
  • Establish and conduct visual daily management on all ECRs through lifecycle
  • Ensure ECRs progress in a timely manner from initiation to closure
  • Update Design Change Process work instructions as needed
  • Ensure ECRs are executed with objective evidence to support changes.
  • Manage the Standards Library and process standards requests 


Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical (Preferred) or Electrical Engineering
  • Over 5 years of experience in a design / engineering environment, preferably in a regulated industry with knowledge of CM standard EIA-649
  • Expert knowledge and experience in PLM (product lifecycle management) systems such as ENOVIA 
  • Experience generating ECO (Engineering Change Orders)
  • Working knowledge of CATIA and reading/updating drawings and 3D models
  • Familiarity with analytical instruments or medical device development is an asset.
  • Thorough knowledge of part number creation, design change rules, revision control, BOM creation and BOM updates
  • Detail-oriented, strong organization skills and ability to build relationships across a fast-paced global environment 
  • Ability to influence others in a positive and collaborative manner
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess a sense of urgency and capability to meet deadlines and drive to closure
