POSITION SUMMARY:  The Commodity Manager position is responsible for leveraging spend across the business, creating and executing strategic cost savings projects and driving out cost focusing within categories MRO, facilities, outside services, print, packaging and office supplies. The position is responsible for maintaining and managing the company indirect buying process and serves as the indirect order gatekeeper, ensuring associates are complying with preferred suppliers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage indirect supply base by leveraging preferred suppliers across the organization
  • Drive competitive business advantage by implementing innovative strategies for cost reduction, quality, and delivery across non-production expenditures for goods and services.
  • Achieve operating performance targets and improvements including indirect cost savings and funnel/project generation
  • Work cross functionally to assist other departments with the RFx process, supplier selection and negotiation
  • Negotiate supplier agreements and contracts including general terms and conditions, pricing and lead-times
  • Maintain consistent communication with suppliers to ensure RFQ timelines are met and act as a liaison between suppliers and functional teams to answer any questions related to RFQ documents.
  • Stay abreast of procurement activities and commodity-focused initiatives within Dental Corporate Procurement
  • Drive continuous improvement in procurement through standard work and kaizen
  • Assess and improve existing tools to support spend visibility, dashboards, reports, and KPIs that drive action.
  • Adhere to all FDA regulated standards and Quality Policy
  • Review Capital Asset Requests to ensure proper procurement protocol has been followed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a business focus, preferably supply chain management
  • 3+ years overall business experience with at least 2 years sourcing-related experience
  • Experience in a regulated environment is a plus
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices will enhance the candidate’s ability to communicate with internal business associates
