As a Software Development Manager, you will hire, grow, mentor and lead a team of software developers and architects that will leverage an emerging cloud platform to deliver our next generation of applications and migrate current desktop applications to the cloud platform over time.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage and grow a small software engineering team that will rapidly design and implement hybrid cloud apps by leveraging and contributing to our future hybrid cloud platform
  • Provide strong technical leadership and direction to the team
  • Supervise architectures and lead efforts to develop the technical road-map of projects
  • Leadg the team by example and hands-on at Gemba at least 30% of the time or as practical
  • Set up performance goals for team members, evaluate performance, provide coaching and facilitate professional development
  • Hire appropriate staff and consultants
  • Ensure all departmental procedures, processes and best practices are being followed
  • Recommend improvements to help enhance effectiveness and efficiency of the department and take ownership of some departmental initiatives
  • Collaborate and negotiate with personnel inside and outside the departments to ensure effective planning and successful development of software products by project teams that include both direct reports and additional staff

Job Requirements



Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams of 5 or more people.
  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud solutions (PaaS/SaaS) Strategy and Implementation for mid or large size organizations (this includes hybrid/private/public Clouds). Must have good knowledge of creating hybrid cloud software solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud relevant application architectures such as micro services or building cloud-native applications 
  • 2+ years of experience with C#/.NET technologies. (This is required as our existing applications are mostly written in C#/.NET.)
  • Possesses outstanding leadership/people management skills. Ability to lead and inspire teams to success.
  • Excellent logical and analytical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to deal well with ambiguous or insufficiently defined problems and make quick yet well-informed decisions.
  • Solid understanding of the software fundamentals, regardless of the particular languages, frameworks, platforms or technology

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Professional Certifications – AWS/Microsoft Cloud Certifications, TOGAF, PMP 
  • Advanced Computer Science degree preferred
  • Experience with designing, migrating/implementing systems on leading commercial Cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure and Google 
  • Experience with containerization and container orchestration platforms 
  • Experience with modern development and testing techniques such as continuous delivery and continuous integration 
  • Technology understanding of API management solutions and their role in enabling an enterprise cloud
