Description

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for procurement of raw material needed in production and using work orders to facilitate workflow on the shop flow. Also engage in strategic projects and workshops to improve material flow and support inventory reduction activities. The role reports to the Materials Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Place inventory POs based on Kanban signal and business demand and forecast.
  • Coordinate with other sites on changes in demand and forecast, and make appropriate adjustments in procurement settings such as reorder point, reorder quantity etc. based on shelf life and lead time
  • Minimize risk of stock out in production and packaging, while improving on-time delivery, inventory turns and minimizing product expiry due to shelf life constraints
  • Provides strategic information signals into the supply chain, through collaboration with suppliers
  • Leads kaizen improvements including Dynamic Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, Inventory Management at Gemba, TPI
  • Works with the entire supply chain to understand the system including roles and responsibilities
  • Participate and lead the Daily Management for Materials Planning
Key Performance Measurements:
  • On Time Delivery – Including but not limited to late backlog, items impacted by stock-outs
  • Inventory Management at Gemba

Qualifications

Education/Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Supply Chain; a combination of education and 5+ years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2-4 years of experience in Production, Demand Planning or Industrial Supply Chain environment
  • Leadership skills, ability to influence people
  • Strong Analytical Skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems used for Procurement and Production Planning. Oracle knowledge a plus.
  • Self-driven nature to solve day-to-day problems and solve long-term problems, prioritizing accordingly
  • Ability to act independently and make the appropriate decisions with minimal supervision as necessary
  • Strong communication in English (Reading, writing, and verbal)
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment
